Why Visit The Rushaga Sector?

The Rushaga sector is definitely the perfect area for mountain gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable park. Rushaga is one of the four tracking sectors in Bwindi impenetrable national park and it is located in the south of the park in Kisoro district Uganda.

Rushaga has the highest number of habituated gorilla families and this has positioned it to be one of the most visited sectors in the park. The sector currently has 8 habituated mountain gorilla families namely Nshongi, Kahungye, Bweza, Busingye, Bikyingi, Mishaya, Mucunguzi, and Rwigi.

Rushaga is also the only sector in Bwindi that currently offers the gorilla habituation experience where visitors are permitted to spend 4 hours participating in the process of introducing gorillas to the presence of human beings.

The southern side of the park where Rushaga is situated is one of the areas in the park with the most beautiful scenery which most tourists can only describe as breathtaking. The sector lies across many hills on which you can have scenic views of the Virunga ranges and amazingly beautiful natural vegetation.

The sector is also endowed with many animal species like elephants, monkeys, bushbucks, warthogs, and over 300 bird species. Therefore, besides gorilla trekking, and habituation, Rushaga offers other activities like nature walks, birding, community walks, hiking, and visiting the Batwa community among others.
